Establishes corporate EH S strategy and functional plans based on company expectations thorough expert knowledge of all regulatory standards
Ensure facilities are compliant with all OSHA, EPA, all federal and state/local guidelines and permitting requirements, and Company safety standards
Develop safety performance standards, methods of accomplishing those standards and reporting processes for ensuring compliance
Develops industry-accepted EH S standards and develops programs to ensure their timely distribution and implementation throughout the organization.
Directs implementation of EH S programs at all sites and ensures that roles and responsibilities are assigned, understood and carried out.
Routinely reviews and audits EH S Programs, policies and management system functions at all sites; prepares and reviews report for site manager; and works with the site manager and local EH S Leader to correct any findings in a timely manner.
Advises site managers regarding progress towards goals and results of management system evaluations. Establishes platform for frequent 2-way communications with all EH S coordinators and site managers.
Provides stewardship for Solazyme EH S program through frequent sites visits, company workshops and corporate development programs.
Actively engage in training site EH S Leaders and site personnel on existing programs and policies. Fosters and facilitates an environment ofownership at all levels.
Requirements:
B.S. or higher degree in a technical field, preferably Chemistry, Biology, Chemical or Biochemical Engineering, or Industrial Hygiene, or other EH S-related discipline.
A minimum of ten years experience in EH S; a significant percentage of that experience in a manufacturing setting and with managerial responsibilities is preferred.
Understand relevant technical requirements in safety, including Federal, State and local ordinances and rules. Ensures standards meet or exceed both company and governmental regulations.
Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of EH S management systems and have a proven record of using a systematic approach to leading this function.
The individual must be able to demonstrate skills in negotiating, team building/participating, coordinating and facilitating. Takes a firm stand on issues without being abrasive.
Possess a high level of integrity, curiosity, strong discipline, and a high degree of accuracy.
Excellent organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
Thinks ahead, minimizing potential problems and is proactive in identifying areas to improve.
Ability to work effectively with a variety of different people and at all levels in the organization. Creates win-win solutions. Team player.
Ability to work efficiently and handle multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
